As a useful security feature it is possible for a user to block access to specific drives in Windows. This can be used not only as a good privacy protection tool but also as a strong intellectual property protection feature. The following steps need to be followed in order to block access to all or specific drives:

Step-1 Open the regedit.exe file.

Step-2 Search or scroll down to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
(User Specific Restriction)

OR

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
(System Wide Restriction)

Step-3 In the right side panel, create a new DWORD value, NoViewOnDrive and set its data value to the number of the drive that you want to hide as per the below list:

A:1, B:2, C:4, D:8, E:16, F:32, G:64, H:128
ALL: 67108863

Step-4 Exit the Windows Registry. You might have to restart the Windows session for the changes to come into effect. To enable all the drives, simply delete the DWORD value that you created.

It is also possible to implement the above by simply creating and executing a file with sky.reg extension containing the below data:

REGEDIT4

[Choose Registry Key From Key]
“NoViewOnDrive”=”Drive number”
