Menu

Normally whenever you create a shortcut to a file or folder, then you will notice that the icon of the shortcut has a small arrow, which signifies that it is a shortcut. In the below screenshot you can easily see the difference between the icon of a regular file and the icon of a shortcut. The arrow is quite conspicuous.

It is possible to get rid of the arrow from a shortcut with the help of a very cool tool called Vista Shortcut Overlay Manager. It is available as a free download from www.skyhackingtricks.blogspot.com and it works on both Windows Vista and 7. Once you download it, you can choose what kind of an icon you would like windows to display for shortcuts and then simply apply the changes. As simple as that!
