There are some simple things to keep in mind while choosing a strong password:
1. Your password should not be a word that appears in the dictionary (to prevent dictionary- based attacks)
2. Your password should not be blank or same as your username.
3. Your password should be a combination of alphabets, number and special character. Ideally, one should try and use both lowercase and uppercase characters.
4. Your password should not be your name followed by your birth date. For example, one should not have a password like sky1995.
5. Your password should not be repeated.
6. Your password MUST be changed regularly.
7. Your password should not be written on a post-it note or a piece of paper stuck on your monitor or behind your CPU.
8. You should not use the same password at multiple places.
9. Your password should not be so random that you forget it yourself!
