In Microsoft Windows 7, whenever you open Windows Explorer it will by default open in the Libraries folder in Windows. However, to be honest, most of us do not use the Libraries folder in Windows at all. It makes a lot of sense to change the default start location of Windows Explorer. This can easily be done by following the steps below:

Step-1 Windows Explorer can normally be accessed by clicking on its icon in the taskbar or by typing its name in the Search box. Instead of starting Windows Explorer, just right click on its icon in the Windows Taskbar>Right click on Windows Explorer in the pop up menu>Click on Properties.

Step-2 In the target field you can type the shortcut to the folder you want Windows Explorer to open in automatically as describe below:

%windir%\explorer.exe c:\FOLDER PATH

Where FOLDER PATH has to be replaced by the actual path of the folder.

Step-3 It is also possible to change the default location to special folders like My Computer, My Documents and others by entering the below shortcuts:

My Computer: %windir%\explorer.exe :: {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

My Documents: %windir%\explorer.exe :: {450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}
