A number of users use screensavers on their computer either to keep snoopers at bay or just because screensaver look good! It is also possible for a user to password protect a screensaver. In other words, if a screensaver has been password protected, once the screensaver appears, the correct password is required to remove it and get back to the desktop. Let us assume a scenario wherein you have forgotten your own Windows screensaver password or want to reset your friend’s screensaver password for some reasons, than this is all you can do.
Step-1 Open the Windows Registry.
Step-2 Navigate to the following Windows Registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Step-3 In the right panel, delete the ScreenSave_Data value in order to reset the screensaver password.
Step-4 Exit the Windows Registry. You might need to restart the Windows session in order to allow the changes to take effect.
Step-5 The next time a password protected screensaver runs on the target computer, irrespective of what password is entered at the prompt, your password shall be accepted.
